Sandia National Laboratories Intern - Ent Endpoint Engineering R&D Graduate Year-Round in Albuquerque, New Mexico

What Your Job Will Be Like:

The Enterprise IT Tools and Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic R&D graduate student to help us build custom software applications to maintain Sandia's complex IT environment Our work directly influences the laboratories’ current and future cyber environment. The entire corporation uses some of the applications developed by the team while other applications have a very specific user base. Our primary product is a custom DHCP, DNS, and IP Address (DDI) system responsible for enabling automated configuration of more than 50 enterprise networks in addition to user account provisioning. We pride ourselves on maintaining customer focus through user stories, personas, and frequent acceptance testing. We begin writing code early in a project's life cycle and iterate until what we have developed meets the customer's needs.

To ensure software quality, all team members are involved and empowered to make decisions. We believe that great software is developed through collaboration, even when we are not pairing, we support each other with a culture that encourages developer questions and communication.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Research and implement new technologies, which includes personal interest research that may not have immediate project applicability

  • Use many agile development practices that include continuous integration, collective code ownership, and paired programming

  • Attend relevant conferences and trainings

    Responsibilities will evolve based on the demands of user-facing applications and mission needs.

    The selected applicant can be a virtual worker located in any U.S. State or District of Columbia. Regular or periodic travel to your assigned work location may be required.

Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Earned bachelor's degree

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer

  • U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Coursework in computer science

  • Coursework and/or experience with programming languages

  • Desire to work with challenging problems and implementing creative solutions

  • Active DOE security clearance

Security Clearance:
