Intern - Application Technologies - Technical Undergraduate Year-Round

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Year Round - Technical Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Write Matlab and python code to interface with Mongo DB

• Do maintenance and add features to our Gitlab Continuous Integration and Deployment (CICD) pipelines

• Learn about Gitlab package management and tools like Nuget and Conan

• Write powershell scripts for Gitlab CICD and other automation

• Contribute to ASP.net MVC web applications by updating service or controller methods, designing bootstrap views and writing unit tests

• Implement test scripts

• Setup hardware for experimenting with new device technologies

• Research new technologies

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

• Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0

• Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer

• U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

• Enrollment in Bachelor's program for CS/CE or other relevant field

• Experience in:

• Object-oriented programming languages

• Developing software products as an individual or part of a team

• Using Git in a team

• Interest in:

• Developing quality code and continuously finding ways to improve your craft

• Writing efficient, modern C++ for low power embedded systems

• Learning and practicing test driven development (TDD)

• Debugging complex software that interfaces with hardware

• Writing software applications in C# including ASP.net MVC web applications

• Modern database technologies like MongoDB or SQL Server

• The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Clearance

The Application Technologies Department conducts R&D to develop unattended data acquisition systems and user software for commanding, displaying and analysis of the collected data. The scope of work in the Department ranges from conceptual design, system development, and performance verification to support of delivered products.

Security Clearance:
