Sandia National Laboratories Intern- Advanced Special Communications Systems R&D Undergraduate Summer in Albuquerque, New Mexico

We are seeking an Intern Summer - R&D Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Contribute to system development, laboratory testing, field testing, and other activities in support of developing advanced RF systems across a diverse frequency range (VHF-EHF) and signaling protocols and waveforms for real-world technology applications

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizenship

Note: If you have not yet started your undergraduate program, please apply to a high school intern position.

Additional Requirements:

  • The Advanced Special Communications Systems Department is seeking a summer or year round engineer intern whose study, interest, and experience include RF circuit design, troubleshooting, testing, and digital communications signaling and waveform development

Desired:

  • Experience with embedded software development or FPGA design is desired
  • Experience in designing miniaturized RF electronics, RF frequency filters, and understanding of low signal-to-noise environments
  • Experience in use of RF related test and measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and RF power meters as well as standard electronics test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and DVMs

Department Description:

The Advanced Special Communications Systems department specializes in technologies enabling the relay of signals from, or into difficult environments. This includes miniature transponders, specialized radars, and advanced signal processing for sponsors in the emerging threats, military, intelligence, and materials control areas. Design expertise include: microwave circuits and RF systems, digital FPGA's, embedded software, microcontrollers, and high performance computing platforms for signal processing.
