Sandia National Laboratories Information Systems Engineering Project Manager (Experienced) in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Salary Range:

$86,300 - $166,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

Organization 5111, High Security Operations (HSO) Project Management and Assurance is seeking experienced Information Systems Engineering Project Managers to join our Project Management team and partner with technical staff in 5110 and 5190. Selected candidates will be responsible for planning and coordinating cross-functional high impact HSO Projects, then monitoring and controlling the projects through successful execution. Candidates must be able to handle a fast-paced, high-security environment, while successfully partnering with staff and leadership in multiple departments.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Provide project management leadership and tactical planning for execution of projects by applying technical information systems domain knowledge to achieve project objectives and results.

  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and meet the technical requirements provided by stakeholders.

  • Negotiate and verify outcomes with partners – external, internal, and across functional organizations.

  • Proactively manage changes and expectations in project scope using change and stakeholder management techniques, identify potential issues, and devise contingency plans as necessary.

  • Identify potential project risks and respond by developing risk mitigation strategies, corrective actions, risk acceptance recommendations or avoidance for all aspects of the project

  • Practice scrum/agile project management methodologies

  • Identify efficiencies and conduct lessons learned for process improvement.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or relevant technical field plus five (5) or more years of related experience

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job

  • Ability to manage IT and/or Cyber related projects

  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects within appropriate scope and timeframe

  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Strong customer service and stakeholder/partner management skills

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a SCI clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field

  • Two (2) or more years of demonstrated leadership experience

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • ITSM or Lean Six Sigma certification

  • Knowledge of ongoing trends in information systems field and the ability to understand and work with new and emerging technologies

  • Experience with project management tools such as BrightWork, MS Project, Primavera, or similar scheduling tool

  • Demonstrated success in leading cross functional teams; the ability to perform effectively in a teaming environment and effective partnering with shared results

  • Ability to develop and nurture effective relationships internal and external to the organization

  • Active DOE Q or DOD Secret clearance

  • Active SCI clearance.

The HSO Project Mgt & Assurance department (5111) is responsible for managing the Project Management and Assurance needs of all High Security Operations, to include our Cyber/IT, Field Intelligence Element and Special Access Program teams.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship.
