Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an Information Management Professional to recommend, create, modify, and maintain information policies, structures, and repositories for the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) programs.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Collaborate with customers and peers to establish changing information management needs and solutions.

  • Ensure information and documentation is available and easily accessible during modernization programs, as it moves into Stockpile surveillance for the lifecycle duration, and at the time of reengineering possibly decades from now.

  • Work with IT professionals to customize and maintain various repositories.

  • Load documentation into various systems and workflows according to protocols.

  • Assist with information security and access via establishing and supporting meta-groups and filters.

  • Audit existing meta-groups.

  • Answer information services queries, conduct secondary research for clients, and analyze and summarize results.

  • Work with management information systems specialists to optimize information management software applications that link through networks, in existing stand-alone computers, or to coordinate data systems in intranet environments.

  • Describe information and relationships in taxonomies, meta-data schemas, and ontologies, which may be used for organization, retrieval, or presentation of information.

  • Partner with internal clients to manage and use information management systems or tools to collect and disseminate information, communications, and data to internal and external team members and customers.

  • Work with internal clients on selection, configuration, and use of information management systems and integrated information management solutions.

  • Ensure information management and communication tools evolve to meet the users’ changing communication and collaboration requirements.

  • Establish inventories of information repositories and sources and explore opportunities for information reuse and repurpose.

  • Assist with implementing information systems to meet business and user requirements.

  • Test applications and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Conduct and participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with software developers and customers in the design, development, and testing of custom applications.

  • Work with clients and staff to conduct high-level investigations for strategies, requirements specifications, and feasibility studies for information management tools, and communicate requirements to members of the workforce.


  • Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience as well as demonstrated experience working with information management and tools; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance.


Demonstrated experience and understanding with the following:

  • The corporation’s information environment, where information is stored, how it is used, and how it is found.

  • Working with IT to customize the structure our environments in SharePoint, EIMS, PDMLink, and PRIME or making modifications or customization independently.

  • Loading and managing documents in SharePoint, EIMS, PDMLink, and PRIME.

  • Analytical and project management ability and attention to detail.

  • Ability to incorporate mission needs into information management solutions.

  • Ability to establish effective relationships with internal and external contacts, successfully interact with multiple levels of management and utilize teaming skills.

  • Ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values.

    Department Description:

The Communications Center (3600) at Sandia National Laboratories is responsible for all Labs-wide communications and all communications functions within the Labs. Clear, timely, and informative communication enhances Sandia’s performance, builds customer and stakeholder confidence, and nurtures employee loyalty and morale. Matrixed Communications Services (3640) includes six departments delivering communications support to organizations across the Laboratories. Providing dedicated (matrixed) professional communications services to deliver high-quality products. The Reentry Stockpile Communications and Information Management department provides matrixed technical writing and information management services to Reentry Systems and Stockpile organizations out of Organization 03646.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
