Sandia National Laboratories Information Enterprise Systems Technologist (Experienced) in Albuquerque, New Mexico

We are seeking an Information Enterprise Systems Technologist to assist in supporting pathfinding national assets that provide novel solutions to national security missions that have a daily impact for the country. As member of the team, you will play a key role in managing the inventory life cycle of our systems and components, as well as participate with planning changes, and deployments of current and future systems. Responsibilities include validating and purchasing components, managing support of items as needed through vendors or service partners, and tracking the availability and accessibility of these items from receipt to destruction. In addition, you will participate with the implementation and execution of new technologies, processes, practices, document your efforts in support of project needs, represent our team to the highest degree, and partner across our teams to ensure customer success. On any given day, the selected candidate may be called upon to:

  • Receive merchandise from the shipping and receiving department and safely transporting materials to our internal warehouse

  • Receive and document material for delivery or return.

  • Maintain inventory of all material entering or exiting the warehouse.

  • Ensuring that all the material is safely and securely packed and labeled for shipping

  • Create and/or maintain documentation of our distributed computing systems.

  • Assist with system upgrades, enhancements, or maintenance

  • Managing/handling all equipment with appropriate care

  • Assisting with training of newly employed teammates

  • Collaborate with the purchasing agent to ensure all received items match those ordered

  • Collaborate with teammates for installations, decommissions, and overall housekeeping of numerous pieces of hardware

  • Keeping up with the present state of the equipment warehouse and knowing where items are for other team members

  • Be responsible for receiving, scheduling incoming inventory and prepare any outgoing inventory for delivery or shipping.

  • Load and unload inventory from trucks using safety lift equipment, sort, organize, and stock inventory in the proper location.

  • Move hardware from warehouse facility to datacenters, pick up locations, or other locations.

  • Update logs and documentation for inventory processing.

  • Identify and report any damaged or missing hardware to vendors and/or logistics.

  • Ensure warehouse and workspaces are free of debris and remove safety hazards from aisles.

  • Work as an active team member to complete team goal


  • 3, or more, years directly related experience, OR equivalent experience and education

  • Experience with managing inventories for IT product lifecycles

  • Knowledge or experience with property/inventory management

  • Become certified to drive a forklift

  • Experience with IT customer service

  • Experience fixing technical issues

  • Can obtain a DOE Q & SCI clearance, which may require polygraph testing


  • Exceptional communication skills

  • 3+ years of property/inventory management

  • Experience supporting large-scale computing infrastructures

  • Experience with deployment of systems for external customers

  • Experience with contributing to deadline-driven projects

  • Hands-on, practical experience with scripting, automation tools, and configuration management tools

  • Experience with integrating emerging processes and configuration management practices

  • Experience with ITIL and integrating continual service improvement into operations

  • Experience with project management tools such as ARAS and/or Nlyte

  • Proven teaming skills

  • Ability to function in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team

  • Ability to learn new technologies, concepts, and processes

  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects within appropriate scope and timeframe

  • Existing Security + certification or higher

  • Active Q clearance

  • Active SCI clearance

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
