NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$88,600 - $172,300
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Information Assurance Specialist to join our organization! Our department includes Telecom Security, which is responsible for overseeing all TEMPEST requirements for transmitters and reviews all introduction of all wireless devices and transmitters with connections to any Sandia National Laboratories information systems. Department 9775 strives to meet DOE O 470.6 and DOE SD 470.6 throughout our infrastructure while continuing to modernize and streamline our services. The selected candidate will be a vital part of integrating and improving new and existing solutions.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Work with customers for services around classified processing, networking, or telecommunications security-related field
Apply knowledge and experience in RF wireless technology and wired (copper and fiber optic) telecommunications infrastructure systems including the duct-bank & maintenance hole distribution systems
Ensure compliance with DOE and National Policy requirements relative to TEMPEST & PDS infrastructure requirements for classified processing. This responsibility includes developing and implementing processes to ensure that Sandia is meeting all program requirements
Work with SNL staff to develop and write security plans, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), develop, and implement Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
Write and update site PDS and TEMPEST Plans and yearly Assessments
Conduct fieldwork, assess, and document wireless devices for approval. Maintain an active database of all wireless devices and DOE approvals in the Limited Area
Participate in the development, maintenance and dissemination of the SNL telecommunications specifications, design guide and standard drawings
Collaborate with other security topical area staff to document and standardize processes across all SNL sites
Survey for compliance, document and approve proposed corporate 802.11 Wi-Fi installations
Document Cabling Plans of Top-Secret networks
Review and document transmitter installations near classified process for submittal to DOE as required by the Certified TEMPEST Technical Authority (CTTA)
Mentor and train team members when applicable
This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Management Information Systems, or a related field plus 5 years’ experience or equivalent (AS+9, or no degree + 13 years)
TEMPEST training / certification
Experience with:
Telecommunications (i.e., telephony, networking, RF/wireless, COMSEC, etc.)
DOE orders, regulations, policies, and procedures related to telecommunications security (TEMPEST) and security assessments.
Active DOE Q clearance is required to start
Qualifications We Desire:
BICSI Certification
Security + certification
Operational knowledge of the Corporate Computing Facility (CCF), Main Distribution Rooms (MDRs), and Intermediate Distribution Rooms (IDRs) work areas.
Experience with:
Telecommunications security requirements (TEMPEST) throughout all SNL sites as mandated by applicable TEMPEST and PDS National Policy requirements.
Compliance of the RED/BLACK separation requirements
Inspection and verification of the SNL TEMPEST Assurance Program
Controlled Article Registration Process (CARP)
Developing and/or revising the RF evaluation and documentation process for all transmitters located in proximity to classified processing
CISSP Certification / Training
Demonstrated ability to understand the scope of telecommunications work being performed, participate, or advise teams, communicate effectively across multiple organizations, and communicate effectively with team members and management
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making
Ability to use good interpersonal and teaming skills with customers and various security related teams around the laboratory

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
