Are you passionate about people and customer service? We are seeking a high-energy and highly motivated Human Resources Operations Generalist (Limited Term Employee) to join the HR Operations organization to help HR ensure accuracy, timeliness and excellent service. We provide support to all Sandia employees, candidates and retirees in their moments that matter!

This role will provide front-line customer service via phone and our case management system. This work is performed in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and must be done with exceptional customer service and accuracy. This position reports directly to the HR Operations, Customer Service Team Lead.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn about and help customers in several functional areas within HR, such as:

  • Recruiting and staffing

  • Compensation and benefits

  • Training and learning

  • Labor and employee relations

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Respond to both phone and online inquiries from employees and managers at all levels and resolve questions and issues by accessing information in multiple computer systems (including Oracle Service Cloud, PeopleSoft, ProMapp, and MS Word).

  • Process transactions in support of HR functions, by performing tasks such as collecting required information/documentation and additional information as needed from employees, managers, and/or others in HR; performing data entry; sending documents and correspondence; filing and other administrative tasks.

  • Assist customers navigating internal resources on self-service and HR technology tools.

  • Efficiently fulfill commitments by managing workload effectively.

  • Assist team members as needed.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts.

In this role, you will work one of the following shifts, at the direction of the Customer Service Team Lead:

M-F: 6:30am-3:00pm; 8:00am-4:30pm; 9:30am-6:00pm


  • Must be a Sandia approved Exceptional Warrior Career Development Program Candidate.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE L-level security clearance.


  • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, English, Psychology, Marketing/Sales, or related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to team well with others.

  • Experience in a shared service environment, verifying employee records, and HRIS systems, PeopleSoft/HCM (preferred), and Oracle Service Cloud.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in continuous improvement/process improvements.

  • Ability to protect and keep personally identifiable information (PII), personal health information and other information confidential.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
