Sandia National Laboratories Environmental Technologist (Experienced) in Albuquerque, New Mexico


We are seeking a Environmental Technologist to join our dynamic team.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Provide technical support to recognize, measure, evaluate, and control potential health hazards, including ionizing radiation, radioactive material, noise, and toxic, carcinogenic, or other harmful materials.
  • May support environmental compliance programs such as air quality, groundwater quality, and water quality.
  • Support both field and laboratory activities.


  • An associate’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience with RCRA hazardous waste requirements and disposal
  • Knowledge of NM State and Federal environmental hazardous waste requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience handling and disposing of radioactive materials
  • Experience with the monitoring and disposing of waste at SAPs
  • Experience with the monitoring and disposing of waste at SAPs
  • Experience with identifying Environmental hazards and how to properly mitigate
  • Experience with environmental audits
  • Knowledge of SNL environmental policies and procedures

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
