NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a motivated Electronic Technologist to contribute to the assembly, integration, and test of satellite telemetry payloads. The successful candidate will have a passion for solving difficult technical problems, as well as a dedication to providing outstanding service in the national interest. This is an opportunity to join a high visibility program area that manages space system payloads from concept through delivery.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Assemble satellite flight hardware and support systems.

  • Perform characterization, qualification and acceptance testing of satellite flight hardware.

  • Test and troubleshoot electronic hardware using a combination of computer-controlled testers and electronic test equipment.

  • Support environmental (temperature, shock, vibration, vacuum) testing at test facilities across Sandia.

  • Develop and implement innovative technical solutions to off-normal problems that arise.

  • Assist with laboratory management functions such as test equipment selection, purchase and calibration safety and security administration.

    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, engineering technology or other closely related STEM field, or Associate degree in engineering technology plus 2 years of related experience.

  • Relevant experience using common electronic test equipment such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzer, etc.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience working with electronic hardware from the component to the subsystem level.

  • Ability to interpret electronic schematics and printed circuit board layouts.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing, test development and diagnostic equipment.

  • Familiarity with analog and digital electronics.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)

  • Willingness to travel to satellite integration facilities on an as-needed basis.

  • Current and active DOE “Q” security clearance.

We have researched and developed new monitoring systems and technologies for over half a century. Building on that legacy, today we support national security missions involving nuclear proliferation detection, treaty monitoring, arms control, and various needs within the national security communities.

We are responsible for the development, qualification, and delivery of high reliability satellite subsystems for National Security customers. The department has design and product realization responsibility for the telemetry subsystems in the Global Burst Detector (GBD) satellite payload and associated test systems.

Security Clearance:
