Sandia National Laboratories Electronics Technologist (Early/Mid-Career) in Albuquerque, New Mexico

We are seeking a R&D Electronics Technologist to develop, fabricate, test and integrate flight hardware in a fast-paced environment to support Missile Defense Applications. You will have the opportunity to impact the development and performance of Advanced Concepts experiments and Mission Hardware. This position will include both laboratory and field testing operations. Some travel will be required to support program needs.

On any given day, your duties will include:

• Collaborate with a team of engineers and technologists on the design and development of a variety of electrical components or assemblies to meet defined requirements

• Work independently or in collaboration with other technologists, using test equipment, ensure that components meet the design needs

• Make independent decisions, ensure the build and assembly of prototype designs are performed in an efficient manner

• Integrate assembled prototypes into mission systems

• Participate in design peer reviews


  • You have an Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Associates degree + 2 years experience in related engineering field
  • Experience in electrical design, test and assembly
  • You can obtain a DOE Q security clearance
  • Some Travel Required


Ideally, your background will also include:

  • Aerospace experience (experience with complex electrical boards, appreciation of quality/care during handling, assembly using procedures, etc.)
  • Experience with the build and assembly of countermeasures
  • Your skillset contains experience in modeling and test software
  • Experience dealing with flight hardware
  • Experience with electrical cabling and interconnects
  • Electrical design experience (testers, board layout, system integration)

Department Description:

The Advanced Concepts and Mission Payloads department is focused on defining advanced technology concepts and future target mission requirements in support of Missile, Air and Space Defense programs. Additionally, the department tests concepts both experimentally and in flight to deliver modeling and simulation truth data, while providing mission payloads in support of Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Ballistic Missile Defense System.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
