NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Electronics Technologist with EMI/EMC or RF experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing EMI/EMC testing on various electronic subsystems and systems, analyzing test results and providing recommendations for design improvements. This position requires a passion for solving difficult technical problems, as well as a dedication to providing outstanding service in the national interest.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Perform EMI/EMC emission and immunity testing of electronic systems and components.
Develop test plans and procedures.
Design and fabricate test fixtures and assemblies from conceptual drawings.
Independently perform verification testing and document results in a clear, precise, and complete manner.
Troubleshoot complex problems with minimal direction.
Maintain test equipment and test facility and manage equipment calibration process.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Qualifications We Require:
Associate degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, engineering technology or other closely related STEM field plus 2 years of related experience
Relevant RF or EMI/EMC experience using electronic test equipment such as power meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, VNAs, etc.
Qualifications We Desire:
Bachelor’s degree in the above stated fields.
Strong verbal and writing skills.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-461.
3+ years of experience in EMI testing and troubleshooting.
Ability to interpret electronic schematics and printed circuit board layouts.
Experience fabricating test fixtures and wiring harnesses.
Ability to author and redline clear and concise test procedures and process instructions.
Excellent concentration and attention to detail.
Ability to adapt to constantly changing work assignments and a fast-paced work environment.
Willingness to support extended hours as required to support critical project and mission milestones.
About Our Team:
We have researched and developed new monitoring systems and technologies for over half a century. Building on that legacy, today we support national security missions involving nuclear proliferation detection, treaty monitoring, arms control, and various needs within the national security communities.
We are responsible for the development, qualification and delivery of high reliability sensor and power subsystems for National Security customers. We also provide EMI and ESD characterization and qualification testing along with “design for EMC” guidance. The power system emphasis is on custom designed power subsystems requiring miniaturization, low-power consumption, high reliability, DC-DC switched mode power supplies and distribution subsystems. The department has design and product realization responsibility for one of the subsystems in the Global Burst Detector (GBD) satellite payload and associated test systems.
