What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an experienced electromechanical technologist to join the Test Systems & Analysis team, Department 7666, that designs, builds, and fields unique hardware and software test systems in support of the sustainment of the Nuclear Security Enterprise. The automated test systems provide engineering information to our customers to support real-time or time critical decision making. Technologists have the responsibility to fabricate, assemble, integrate, test, troubleshoot, qualify, and field these electronic test systems. Duties also include operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the functional performance of these systems in a lab and field environments. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team environment, delivering and integrating your specific sub-system in a timely manner toward a larger system and providing supporting documentation. Some travel and overtime may be required to support the integration and fielding activities.
On any given day, you may be called upon to:
Assemble and test development hardware and automated test systems
Assist test set up and pre-test walkthroughs while working directly with the 766x team as well as customers outside of 766x
Collaborate with design engineers, systems engineers and other domains in the design of equipment, printed circuit boards, cables, and software for controlling test equipment
Analyze test data and recommend modifications to components, test system design, or test procedures
Lead laboratory equipment repair and calibration
Create and maintain environmental, safety, and health related documentation while maintaining a safe working environment
Other lab and tester work as required
Qualifications We Require:
High school diploma plus (5) or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Up to date on J-STD-001, IPC-610, IPC-620, and IPC-7711 specifications and details; ability to obtain and maintain the certifications
2 or more years of demonstrated experience in electronics test equipment, rack mounted instruments and test systems
2 or more years of demonstrated experience in benchtop testing and troubleshooting of analog, digital, and RF circuitry
Demonstrated experience with electrical fabrication to include printed wiring boards, cables, soldering and rework
Active DOE Q-level security clearance
US Citizenship
Qualifications We Desire:
J-STD-001, IPC-610, IPC-620, and IPC-7711 certification
Knowledge, skills, and experience in electronics engineering, technology, instrumentation, & printed circuit board design
Experience with schematic capture, NI LabView, Microsoft Office applications, Matlab, Python
Familiarity with systems engineering and quality principles framework
Excellent presentation and writing skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management and internal and external customers
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead through others
Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
About Our Team:
The Weapons Design and Assurance Center (7600) is a multi-discipline, product-focused organization that provides engineering design, components, subsystems, integration, testing, and field support for nuclear weapons and other high-consequence national security applications. Examples of these applications include the development of satellite and other space-flight and airborne payloads, testing for high consequence military programs, nuclear weapon safety mechanisms, high reliability electronic products, telemetry and software systems, and data science and analytics. The Center is divided into four main competencies: Advanced Mechanical Design, Firing & Embedded Systems, Hi-Reliability Electronic Products, and Data Systems Engineering.
