NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Computer Aided Design Designer/Technologist with a passion for product design and development.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Initiate, design, develop, implement, and evaluate new processes, products, or systems for implementing and integrating engineering solutions.

  • Produce designs and product definition of complex circuits.

  • Resolve product requirements based on client needs.

  • Plan, lay out, draw, and revise detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts, established references, and standard data in a field of specialization.

  • Complete details of major layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices.

  • Use CAD application software to develop electrical design concepts.

You may be interviewed and/or hired into one of two electrical design engineering organizations at Sandia National Labs.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Associates degree in Electrical Design Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education plus relevant experience

  • Experience using computer aided design (CAD) electrical software for defining product definition such as schematic capture and layout. (e.g.: Mentor Graphics, Altium, PADS, Zuken, and Allegro)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Understanding of manufacturing methods for electrical hardware

  • Demonstrated experience using Mentor Graphics Expedition tool suite

  • Understanding of configuration management principles

  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturing principles

  • Knowledge and understanding of the NW engineering systems and the NNSA product realization process.

  • Strong interest in product design and development

  • Motivated team member who readily accepts and completes tasks in a timely fashion

  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Consistent record of demonstrating initiative and getting results

  • Demonstrated successful teamwork, excellent communication skills (oral and written), and consistent demonstration of good behaviors

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a diverse team environment

About Our Team:

Electrical Design Department (2963/2964) is responsible for providing knowledgeable and capable resources to develop and create Electrical Computer Aided Design (ECAD) product definition in support of our Nation’s security programs. We partner with engineering teams across the lab to produce innovative design solutions. We communicate design options and recommended approaches to product development teams, stakeholders, and manufacturing partners. The department's unique capabilities include design capture and physical layout of Printed Circuit Boards for both the analog and digital regimes, multi-chip modules using Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic Technology (LTCC), Flex and Rigid Flex Cables and Printed Circuit Boards; and, interacting with vendors to procure quick turn prototype circuit boards. Security Clearance:
