About Our Team:

Sandia National Laboratories is a U.S. research laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and supports numerous federal, state, and local government agencies, companies, and organizations. For more than 70 years, Sandia has delivered essential science and technology to resolve the nation's most challenging issues.

The Electric Power Systems Research Department is focused on novel R&D to enable the modernization of the nation's electric power grid. This work includes power system dynamics; grid stability; power system planning and operations; power system protection; threat modeling; grid resilience metrics and modeling; power systems controls and optimization techniques, and artificial intelligence and data analytics applied to the electric grid. The department is highly inter-disciplinary working closely with many departments across Sandia, while simultaneously working collaboratively with universities, utilities, government agencies, and other national research organizations.

Sandia offers an extremely competitive salary, 401k, healthcare, and overall benefits package. Sandia is consistently named a Forbes 500 Best Large Employers and is dedicated to cultivating valued professional and lifestyle opportunities that support a dynamic workforce focused on excellence and innovation.

Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by the DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
