We are seeking a Computer Hardware Support Technologist.
On any given day, the selected candidate may be called on to:
Apply patches, backups, and the evaluation of log files
System administration, fault isolation, diagnostics and repair of computer systems running the Linux operating system
Plans, conducts, and coordinates desktop computer system activities.
Sets up personal computers and servers.
Responsible for networking, security, system administration, and monitoring computer equipment, server, and associated software.
Coordinate all IT systems and services and provide IT support to the customer community
Seek and participate in development opportunities to grow your capabilities and to mentor others
Associate degree in relevant computer field or equivalent experience (4 years or higher-level degree)
Experience with Linux and/or Unix builds
Experience with computer hardware and networks
Active DOE Q clearance
Technical certifications in Linux and Security
Familiarity of Linux and MacOS system administration
Familiarity in configuring, compiling, and installing Linux software
Familiarity in multiple scripting languages (python, bash, perl)
Experience producing detailed technical documents
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify creative solutions
Knowledge of networking, data storage and retention and/or highly scalable storage systems
Experience with fault investigation and anomaly resolution, security, and information assurance
Experience working in a classified environment
Knowledge of ITIL and Cyber Security standard methodologies
The Mission Computing Services (MCS) Department (9322) provides tailored IT services and support to Sandia mission organizations and customers. MCS also delivers system administration, software development, cybersecurity services, and IT support for classified systems, all Linux/UNIX operation systems, and operational technologies. MCS partners with other corporate IT providers in the delivery of its services and is engaged in technology development efforts for the Sandia Classified Network (SCN), UNIX/LINUX, and thin/virtual computing.

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
