What Your Job Will Be Like:

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Perform work to support commercial construction activities involving carpentry, millwright, drywall finishing, or drywall installation work activities.

  • Obtain and analyze job information, blueprints, and drawings to lay out, demo, construct, modify, overhaul, renovate, repair, and erect all types of facility structures.

  • Perform teardown and reconstruction of interior facility spaces based on engineering drawings, sketches, work plans, standards, specifications, and building codes.

  • Perform initial testing and commissioning of systems in support of turnover to operations.

  • Typically performs work in one or more of the construction trades, including structural, ironworking, carpenter, or equipment operations.

  • Tools and PPE will be provided by Sandia National Laboratory.

  • As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Qualifications We Require:

  • State issued Construction License or four years’ experience in residential or commercial carpentry or construction.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security Clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • State issued Construction License.

  • OSHA-10 hour (or higher)

  • Broad construction experience

  • Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff and management

  • This position may require obtaining a CDL

    Demonstrated ability to :

  • Work effectively with a wide range of personnel and personalities

  • “Carry through” to completion complex action items

  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills

  • Demonstrated willingness to challenge an individual’s position in a collaborative way

  • Self-motivated individual that can work both independently as well as have demonstrated the ability to work effectively in team environment

  • Perform work using industry standard safety practices such as: proper use and inspection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Knowledge LOTO

  • Ability to clearly communicate

  • Ability to understand and implement engineering standards and specifications

  • Ability or trained to use the tools of the trade for the skilled position

  • Ability to understand and apply mathematical skills.

  • Understanding of various physical, structural, mechanical, and electrical documents including drawings, schematics, and material specifications.

  • Understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configurations, and policies and procedures

Security Clearance:
