Sandia National Laboratories Project Controller (Experienced) in Livermore, California

The Project Management organizations for the W80-4, B61-12, W88 ALT370, and Mk 21 Fuze programs are all in need of project controllers. These are large programs that have a wide range of roles and responsibilities for a talented project controller. Depending on the needs of the program and the skills and experience of the project controller, job assignments could include any of the following: Weapon Design and Cost Report (WDCR) Support, Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Implementation/Execution Team Member, Schedule Coaching, EVMS Program Super User, Hardware Needs and Material Requirement Schedule (MRS) Management, and EVM Control Account Project Controller. The project controller will be involved in project management efforts across all phases of the program to include conceptual-design studies, feasibility/cost studies, full scale engineering design, qualification and production efforts. The individual will interact routinely with personnel across multiple SNL organizations, as well as with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), production agencies throughout the NNSA nuclear security enterprise, and Department of Defense organizations. Interactions with senior and executive management will likely occur. Responsibilities may require moderate to frequent business travel.

Specific responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

  • Development and integration of component and system P6 schedules
  • Schedule development, resource loading and assurance activities in support of WDCR
  • EVMS support to include compilation of data, variance analysis, and reporting
  • Process baseline change requests
  • Administer program monthly EV process through COBRA (EV engine)
  • Identify, schedule, procure, and track hardware required for developmental testing, qualification and pre-production
  • Collaborate daily with technical management and staff, Product Realization Team Leads, and project management staff
  • Sandia representative on multi-organizational (i.e., NNSA, DoD, LLNL, LANL, KCNSC, PX, Y-12, SRS, SNL) project teams

Required:

Requires Bachelor's degree in Business or degree relevant to project control accountabilities and 5 years of demonstrated experience in Project Controls; or Master’s degree in relevant discipline and 2 or more years of demonstrated experience in Project Controls.

Ability to obtain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance.

Desired:

Active Q or Top Secret clearance.

Knowledge of the Nuclear Weapons complex and product realization process.

Experience working with the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, or the Department of Defense.

Project management education and certification(s).

Experience with Earned Value Management principles and methodology.

Experience with Primavera P6.

Experience with COBRA or other Earned Value engine.

Proficiency in tools and applications commonly employed in project management activities.

Demonstrated teaming skills, including the ability to work effectively with other organizations, project sponsors and customers, and suppliers.

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interface with science and engineering technical management and staff.

Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with management, customers, and stakeholders at all levels.

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
